Nepal Airlines to Resume Regular Flights to Sydney After Two Years

Resumption of International Flights

Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has announced the resumption of its regular flights to Sydney, Australia, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement was made by NAC's spokesperson, Archana Khadka, who confirmed that the flights would resume from March 25, 2023.

The resumption of flights to Sydney marks a significant milestone for NAC as it seeks to rebuild its international network and cater to the growing demand for air travel between Nepal and Australia. The Sydney route is one of NAC's most popular and is expected to attract a mix of tourists, business travelers, and expatriate Nepalis.

Flight Schedule and Ticketing

NAC will operate two weekly flights between Kathmandu (KTM) and Sydney (SYD), departing from Kathmandu on Tuesdays and Fridays and from Sydney on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flights will be operated by NAC's Airbus A330-200 aircraft, offering a comfortable and spacious cabin experience.

Tickets for the Kathmandu-Sydney flights are now available for purchase through NAC's website, authorized agents, and the airline's reservation offices. NAC has announced a special promotional fare for the inaugural flights, starting from NPR 45,000 (approximately AUD 550) for a one-way economy class ticket.

Background and Significance

NAC previously suspended its Sydney flights in March 2020 as part of the global travel restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption of flights to Sydney is a testament to NAC's resilience and its commitment to providing essential air connectivity between Nepal and Australia.

The Sydney route has historically been a significant revenue generator for NAC and is expected to contribute to the airline's financial recovery. The resumption of flights will also boost tourism and trade between the two countries.
