Tragic Accident in Thailand

A tragic bus accident in Thailand has left 18 people dead and 40 injured after the vehicle carrying Chinese tourists veered off a mountain road and plunged down a steep cliff. The accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Prachuap Khiri Khan province, about 250 kilometers (155 miles) south of Bangkok.

According to local authorities, the bus was carrying 59 people, including 52 Chinese tourists, two Thai tour guides, and five Thai drivers. The bus was traveling from the tourist destination of Pattaya to the capital city of Bangkok when the accident occurred.

Cause of the Accident

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but initial reports suggest that the bus may have suffered a brake failure. Witnesses reported hearing a loud noise before the bus veered off the road and crashed down the cliff. The bus came to a stop about 30 meters (98 feet) below the road.

Rescue workers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and began the difficult task of extricating the victims from the wreckage. The injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment, and the bodies of the deceased were taken to a nearby morgue.
